About Roger: Roger Westendorf is a retired widower who lives on an acreage between Donald and St. Paul Oregon in the company of his horses, a neighbor’s dog, assorted barn cats, and other friendly critters. Roger grew up on a farm in Idaho and began taking guitar lessons while in high school from a young member of the New Chrystal Minstrels whose family lived nearby. After putting his music aside for several years to gain his education, raise his family, and pursue a career, Roger reunited with his guitar about 20 years ago and has been singing and playing in public for several years since then. Roger sings and plays acoustic cover songs by well-known, and some less well-known singers and songwriters from the late 1960s and 1970’s including Neil Young, Joan Baez, Gordon Lightfoot, Nancy Griffith, Carole King, James Taylor, Tom Russell, Doly Parton, Guy Clark, Lennon/McCartney, CSN&Y, The Eagles, The Judds, John Denver, Townes VanZandt, Willie Nelson, Meryle Haggard, Hank Williams, Peter Paul and Mary, Tom Wait, Jim Webb, Eric Bogle, Dougie McClean, and others. He especially enjoys discovering and playing songs that aren’t so well known by the general population, but which are likely to become favorites once they are heard. His repertoire is broad. If someone requests a song, chances are good he’ll know it.
